We Interupt Your Regularly Scheduled Program....

I know this is suppose to be Word-Wednesday but since I have been M.I.A. lately I decided we could break the rules for a change. I wanted to update on life around here.

July 4th, we shot a few fire works. Few meaning 'why bother if that's all there is'. But they were pretty nonetheless.

On July 16th, my Mom had a birthday. 75 and still kicking.

Our nephew turned 18 on July 17th. Which just makes you feel old especially since you remember him being born.

Our son, Zach, had a mysterious reaction to something?, nothing?, anything?, it's any one's guess. But it made for a really interesting picture to show when small talk starts to wane, you know, "Oh by the way, take a look at my sons hives, doesn't it just make you want to scratch?" We document everything. Apparently nothing is sacred with us.

And finally, I saved the best for last... We have a new addition to our family, Sam. The black side by side refrigerator that I have waited all my adult life for, ok maybe that's stretching it a bit, let's try it again, the black side by side refrigerator I have waited most of my adult life for. He is tall, dark and handsome rolled into one sleek package. So without further ado......

Until next time.......Kristi

Still a Work in Progress

Remember this photo? I showed you this in an earlier post about remodeling the living room. At the top of the picture you can just see the glass of the ceiling fan lights.

Here are the matching light fixtures that were installed just recently. They made a world of difference.

We also added new lighting to the bathroom as well. My goal is to eventually replace the countertop and possibly paint the kitchen cabinets. The cabinets aren't as red in real life as they appear in the picture. But think they could use an update as well. I'm just unsure of the color. I love the look of black cabinets but with all the black appliances I'm afraid that would be overkill. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Until next time........Kristi

Time is On My Side?

Seems that five minutes is too much to give sometimes. A little project that takes only five minutes to complete is too overwhelming for a procrastinating mind. Our logical side knows that it will only take a minute but our brain convinces us that is a miscalculation and it will take at least a month. And we believe. So we do nothing, waiting for an uneventful month that we can set aside to devote to our project. That month never comes and our project falls by the wayside to be forgotten. Then months, years, later we notice that we never completed that spot right there. No problem! It won't take but a moment to do I'll get right on it! Then you notice the damage that your procrastination caused and the one minute fix you were about to perform will indeed take a lot longer. Not a good feeling if you are talking about a home improvement project but an even scarier feeling if you are talking about fixing a problem inside yourself. Take a moment everyday and see what needs fixing in your life whether it be outside or inside your life or yourself. Until next time.....Kristi.

When the Weather Outside is Frightful

Had guests over for a pool party to try and beat the heat. Then Mother Nature decided after about thirty minutes that we had indeed had enough. Thunder and lightning, along with a toad strangler rain does not make for a fun pool party.

So what can you do but take the party inside. The kids decided to play hide and seek. But once again were thwarted not by Mother Nature this time but by the laws of physics. Getting in the dryer wasn't a problem, it was getting out that became the real test.

He was a good sport about it and you got to respect that drive and determination to take hide and seek up a notch.

Love this girl! Love the attitude that says, ' I may be a girl, I may be small, but I don't have to put up with a bunch of aggravating boys!' I'm telling you I love this girl! She can hold her own against two rambunctious boys.

Speaking of which.... the two rambunctious boys decided to entertain us by wrestling, when hide and seek started to wane.

It was a blast having these kids at our home. They are great kids and can't wait for them to visit again!

Picture Thought

The road trip I mentioned a few posts back was to pick up this little gem. Drove to White House, Tennessee to buy this when I should have been at home painting. But the smile on his face was worth the project going over into another day.
